Adam Pękalski
Adulthood, confronted with my childish imaginations of it, turned out to be somewhat disappointing.
Pękalski works in book, press and advertising illustration as well as poster design, and occasionally comics and painting.
His distinctive line can be found in dozens of books, not only for children. He worked at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, where he taught graphic design and illustration courses at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture for eleven years. He is currently an assistant at the Graphic Design Basics Studio of the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk.
He was born in Gdańsk and studied graphics and painting at the city’s Academy of Fine Arts. He received a diploma with honours in the Studio of Prof. Tomasz Bogusławski and a diploma annex in the Studio of Prof. Czesław Tumielewicz. He also received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and has won numerous prizes and awards, including a gold medal in the international satirical drawing competition SATYRYKON in 2006. Author of several individual exhibitions and a participant in many group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Lives and works in Gdynia.
